In Baccarat the hand is composed of two or three cards and the goal is to get as close to 9 as possible.
Baccarat terminology
Punto Banco – this is another name for the game
Baccarat – this is the worst hand you can get in the game and it is the count of zero.
Banco – banker or dealer
Punto – player
Banker/Player Bet – this means betting on either the dealer, either the player, but not on a tie
Bankroll – the total amount of money a player uses to gamble
Burning – this means to discard the top 3 to 6 cards after you shuffle the deck, before the play
Caller – the croupier that deals the cards at the baccarat table
Carte – the French term for when you request a card from the dealer
Coup – French term for a round of the game of Baccarat
Croupier – workers of the casino who deal the cards and oversee the whole game along with its betting processes
Face cards – suit cards, or in other words: Jacks, Queens and Kings
Fading – placing bets
House edge – the casinos’ advantage over the player; the casino’s safe win
Ladderman – supervisor of the Baccarat table, generally a casino employee (in land based casinos)
La Grande – the best hand in baccarat; a natural hand totaling 9 (French term for “the Big One”)
La petite – a natural hand, a hand that totals 8 (French term for “the Little One”)
Loss Bet – a bet made against the bank
Mini Baccarat – a smaller version of the baccarat table, used to draw in more players and make it more appealing
Monkey – Baccarat slang, it stands for a face card or a 10.
Muck – the total of 8 decks of 52 cards each that is used at the start of the shuffling process
Natural – when the two cards dealt total 8 or nine
Palette – what croupiers use in land-based casinos to move the card on the table.  It is a long, flat wooden stick.
Pass – win
Push – a neutral bet (neither a winner, nor a loser) and the money will be held until the next round of the game
Shills – only in land-based casino – the person who is assigned the duty of attracting new players at the baccarat table
Shoe – a machine that counters errors in the dealing process
Shooter – bank
Shuffle up – when the dealer early shuffles the cards
Standoff – a tie between the player and the bank
Upcard – the card facing up
